U.S. President Donald Trump is preparing a scandalous renaming of the Pentagon.
It is reported by Fox News.
Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hagseth have repeatedly expressed a desire to change the name of the Pentagon.
Trump has repeatedly said that the current definition of "Department of Defense" does not fit "the realities and America's role in the world."
"America can no longer hide behind the word 'defense.' We must call things by their proper names," the president allegedly noted in a conversation with advisers.
And now the document is expected to be signed as early as Friday, September 5, after which the administration plans to release details and explanations for implementing the change.
So, according to the White House, the executive order calls for using the Department of War as a second title alongside the existing Department of Defense, as well as using titles such as "Secretary of War" for Gegset. The document also directs the Secretary of Defense to propose both legislative and executive actions to make the new name permanent.
Trump's supporters argue that the move will help position the military more honestly and could become a symbol of "America's new strength," as the U.S. military department was indeed called the "Department of War" until 1947.
At the same time, opponents warn that the renaming will only emphasize the aggressive image of the United States and aggravate relations with allies and opponents.
If the decree is signed, the department will officially change its name for the first time in more than 75 years.
