The two presidents also discussed the issue of transit of Russian energy resources.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said after his conversation with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo that they discussed "key topics" and, in particular, what is fundamental for Ukraine and what is fundamental for Slovakia.
"Informed about our conversation yesterday with [US President Donald] Trump, about working with the leaders of the coalition of the willing to bring peace closer and ensure Ukraine's security, about the security architecture for Europe. And Slovakia will not be left out," Zelensky wrote on his Telegram page on Friday, September 5.
The Ukrainian president also noted that Fitzo told him about his contacts in China.
"A separate and important issue is Europe's energy independence. Russian oil, as well as Russian gas, has no future," the president added.
Zelensky said that Slovakia supports Ukraine in its movement to the European Union and this is "very weighty."
"We see equally that Ukraine and Moldova should continue to move together towards membership in the European Union. It is also important that bilateral cooperation in economic, energy and infrastructure issues here in our region strengthens our peoples, our countries," the Ukrainian president said of the meeting.
