Trump Counts On Release Of Belarusian Political Prisoners

The ruler of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko may soon release hundreds of political prisoners. This follows from the statement of U.S. President Donald Trump, made by him while talking to journalists at the White House on Friday, September 5, reports "Deutsche Welle".

According to Trump, we are talking about 1400 - 1500 "hostages" (in fact, there are many times more political prisoners in Belarus - Ed.), many of whom are political prisoners. Lukashenko "still has 1400 or 1500 (prisoners. - Ed.), a large number, and we talked about their release. Some of them are political. I believe that many of them are political. And it looks like a lot of them may be released at some point, in the fairly near future," the US president said.

Talking about Lukashenko, Trump did not use the word "president," resorting instead to the expression "head of Belarus."
