Fitzo: Putin Is Ready To Meet With Zelensky Not Only In Moscow

The Slovak prime minister spoke about the political implications of a possible meeting.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo said that Kremlin host Vladimir Putin, during a conversation with him, expressed readiness to meet with President Vladimir Zelensky "anywhere" and not just in Moscow.

Fitzo's statement is quoted by TASR.

The Slovak prime minister also said that Zelensky made it clear during his meeting with him that he was willing to meet with Putin.

"President Zelensky would not win politically if he met with President Putin, and certainly Russian citizens would not be thrilled if President Putin met with President Zelensky. But both realize that even though it might damage them politically, it is necessary to meet and discuss the issue, because if they don't negotiate, the war will continue," Fitzo said.

The meeting in Uzhgorod on September 5 was the first opportunity for bilateral talks for Vladimir Zelensky and Robert Fitzo.
