Is the Kremlin preparing provocations against the Baltic States?
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin may invade the "Achilles' pete" of NATO - the Suwalk Corridor, which connects Poland and the Baltic States. This was told to the publication The Sun by former senior British military intelligence officer Philip Ingram, who conducted a corresponding investigation.
It is noted that the Suwalki corridor is about 100 kilometers long and is located between Poland and Lithuania. It is close to the Kaliningrad region and Belarus.
Ingrem emphasized that seizing the Suwalki corridor would effectively cut off the Baltic States from their NATO allies.
"We see an increased Russian military presence in the Kaliningrad region and Belarus, we see sudden military exercises and unusual troop movements," he shared in a conversation with reporters.
The expert said any threats to Estonia, Latvia or Lithuania are comparable to the moments that preceded a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. He said this should be interpreted as a serious warning sign.
Ingrem warned that a possible Russian invasion of the Suvalki corridor could be indicated by increased activity of Moscow's propaganda campaigns directed against the Baltic states, as well as inciting unrest among Russian-speaking minorities.
