The 36-year-old political prisoner Andrei Podnebny, sentenced to 16 years and 8 months in a penal colony, has died, Andrei's mother reported on Facebook.
"One thing that makes me happy is that no one will be able to physically or psychologically abuse my son anymore," she wrote.
As the post says, Andrei died on September 3.
Andrei Podnebnyi served his sentence in Mogilev's IK-15. In 2022, he was convicted on six criminal articles - on "willful destruction of property" (Article 218 of the Criminal Code), "insulting Lukashenko and a representative of the authorities" (Articles 368 and 369 of the Criminal Code), "incitement of hostility" (Article 130 of the Criminal Code), creation of an "extremist formation" (Article 361-1 of the Criminal Code), "act of terrorism" (Article 289 of the Criminal Code) and promotion of "extremist activity" (Article 361-4 of the Criminal Code).
Andrii has Russian citizenship, but since the age of six he has been living in Belarus on a residence permit
