German Chancellor reveals Russian dictator's 'imperialist plan'.

"The "imperialist plan" of the dictator of the aggressor country Russia Vladimir Putin "will not end with the conquest of Ukraine, but will only be the beginning. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz made such a statement on Sept. 8, AFP reported.

Merz told a conference of German ambassadors that "we are confronted daily and with increasing intensity with Russia's hybrid attacks, including on our infrastructure," and pointed to Moscow's "provocations in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea."

The German chancellor said that the countries of Europe "face historic challenges," primarily "the creation of a new security architecture that should last for several decades."

"What we used to call the liberal world order is under pressure from many sides, including within the political West. A new conflict between systems has erupted between the liberal democracies and the axis of autocracies," he said.

Merz also said that the German authorities have started to build up Germany's defense capabilities - as US President Donald Trump questions the future strength of the "Transatlantic Alliance." The chancellor specified - he wants Germany to have "the strongest traditional-style army" in Europe.

In addition, Merz urged the FRG's European allies to "reassess interests" and actively develop new partnerships around the world - because of the changing relationship with the US.

"We in Europe must adjust our interests - without false nostalgia," the chancellor said

Although the U.S. remains an important partner, the relationship has become less obvious because Washington now "makes its ties dependent on certain interests and topics," Merz summarized.
