A political analyst told what prompted Trump to take on Russian Federation tankers.

Donald Trump has ordered the seizure of tankers of Russia's shadow navy that are linked to Venezuela. This is a serious move by the American leader, which may have been provoked by certain actions of Vladimir Putin.

Politologist Oleg Sahakyan told 24 Channel that the US has long considered seizing Russian tankers. However, Trump has not been ready to do so for some time.

Oleg Sahakyan suggested that U.S. forces' actions against Russia's shadow fleet are related to one important factor.

"This is Putin's personal lie about the attack on his residences. I think it demonstrated that Putin is willing to lie directly head-on to Trump in a situation where he realizes he's being lied to. Putin acts the same way with others," he said.

This behavior of the Kremlin dictator is unacceptable for Western politicians.

The political scientist stressed that the constant lies of Putin's supporters are already habitual for Americans and others. Everyone explains it by saying that it is their job.

"But when it is a conversation between leaders, it presupposes a basic level of trust. It is common in Western diplomacy that then they don't blatantly lie to each other. Putin sat there and lied," Sahakyan noted.

This may indicate that for the Kremlin dictator, Trump is no different from other politicians, whom he has always deliberately deceived. The American leader is not ready to tolerate such a thing, because he considers himself better than others. That's why he probably decided to increase pressure on Russia's shadow fleet.

There is also the option that Putin was given false information about the attack on his residence, which he voiced to Trump. If so, it puts the Kremlin dictator in an even worse position, because it shows his weakness and inability to control the situation in his own country.

In any case, according to the political analyst, Putin himself ruined everything in relations with Trump.
