Ukraine And US Prepare Free Trade Agreement

Zelensky revealed the details.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky says he is discussing with the United States the possibility of a zero-tariff free trade agreement that would be part of a broader plan for the country's economic recovery from the war.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Zelensky said the proposed agreement would provide for zero tariffs in trade with the United States and could apply to certain industrialized regions of Ukraine. He said this would give Kiev "very serious advantages" over neighboring countries and could attract foreign investment and business.

"This could become an additional guarantee of economic security," the president stressed, adding that he plans to discuss the details of the proposal directly with US President Donald Trump.

Zelensky's statements came after a report by Ukraine's chief negotiator Rustem Umerov, who held phone talks with Trump's special envoys - Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. According to the president, the US side has also been in contact with Russia "in a certain format," although further steps are still unclear.

Zelensky noted that Ukraine has already handed the US its comments on the territorial proposals, which should be communicated to the Russian side. He expects Moscow's response to the 20-point framework agreement before finalizing talks with Washington on security guarantees and a reconstruction plan - which could come as early as the end of the month.
