British Intelligence Has Warned Of A New Hidden Threat From Russia
Blaze Metrevely

It's about systemic impact.

Western intelligence services have recorded the expansion of hidden threats from Moscow. We are not talking about a direct military clash, but about systemic destabilization through specific methods of influence.

This is reported by Independent.

The new head of Britain's MI6 intelligence agency, Blaise Metrevely, has warned of a complex danger emanating from Russia.

In her assessment, the Kremlin is purposefully shaping what it calls "chaos exports," promoting instability beyond its own borders.

Vladimir Putin, it is noted, is deliberately destroying the established unspoken rules of conflict, shaping an era of uncertainty.

Gray Zone tactics

The publication emphasizes that we are not talking about overt strikes, but about actions in the "gray zone" - covert operations that are difficult to directly link to the initiating state.

"We all know about the existence of planned sabotage, assassinations, hacker attacks, cybercrime and drone attacks. Such concepts are well known and firmly rooted in the public consciousness," the publication said.

Stake on intermediaries

Security experts draw attention to a new element of this strategy - the active involvement of individuals, companies and informal structures that act covertly in Russia's interests.

A case in point is Jan Marsalek, the former chief operating officer of Wirecard, who, according to media reports, has worked with the Russian GRU for nearly a decade.

Recruitment of perpetrators

Separate mention is made of the case of Dylan Earle, who was involved in the arson of an east London warehouse carrying humanitarian aid for Ukraine. He was reportedly recruited online by entities linked to PMC Wagner.

Europe's Preparedness

The publication emphasizes that the scale of such a covert network allows damage to vulnerable targets without direct responsibility.

"When we think about Russian aggression and attempts to sow discord among Western allies, we should broaden our understanding of how far the Kremlin is willing to go in all spheres of life to cause destruction and spread anxiety," the publication writes.

As the fifth year of the war in Ukraine approaches, analysts estimate that activity in this area will only increase, and European countries should take this factor into account in their security planning.

We would like to remind that Ukraine has declared Iran's support for Russian aggression inadmissible and pointed to systemic repression within the country itself, emphasizing that such actions undermine international security and human rights, in connection with which Kiev called on the world community for tougher and more coordinated pressure on the Iranian authorities.

It should be noted that units of the SBU's Alpha Special Operations Center have inflicted losses in military equipment worth over $5.5 billion on the enemy since the beginning of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, which was the result of systematic work to hit key targets of the occupation forces.
