Media: Israel Plans New Offensive In Gaza In March

But Trump's approval is needed.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has drawn up plans to resume intensive military operations in the Gaza Strip in March, including an offensive on Gaza City to push the demarcation line toward the western part of the enclave.

According to The Times of Israel.

Arab diplomat told the publication that the operation could not take place without the support of the US, which is still trying to push forward the shaky truce reached in October 2025.

Although Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu agreed during a meeting with US President Donald Trump last month to cooperate in efforts to advance the ceasefire, he does not believe they will be successful in disarming Hamas and has therefore instructed the IDF to prepare a contingency plan, the interlocutor added.

On the first day of the ceasefire, October 10, Israeli forces retreated to the Yellow Line, taking control of about 53% of the Gaza Strip. An operation in Gaza planned for March will allow Israel to increase that percentage, an Israeli official and an Arab diplomat said.

Israel-Hamas Truce

Reminder, on October 8, 2025, US President Donald Trump said that Israel and the Hamas group had agreed to implement the first phase of a peace plan he proposed following talks in Egypt.

On Oct. 13 in Sharm el-Sheikh, the leaders of the United States, Egypt and Turkey signed an agreement to end hostilities in Gaza. They mediated negotiations between Israel and Hamas.

At the same time, on December 20, the United States, along with representatives of Egypt, Qatar and Turkey, met in Miami to assess the implementation of the first phase of the Gaza truce and to discuss the progress of preparations for the second phase.

An announcement of the implementation of the second phase was planned for December 25, but it did not happen.
