Iranian Regime Asks Trump For Talks

However, the president said that "the U.S. will act tough."

US President Donald Trump said that Iran's leadership has made contact with Washington with a proposal to start negotiations. He said this on Sunday, January 11, speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One.

"Iran's leaders have called," Trump noted, adding that "a meeting is already being organized." He said the Iranian side was interested in talks, but he did not rule out tougher steps. "We may have to act even before this meeting," the US president said, without specifying details.

The Iranian authorities have not yet commented on the White House chief's statements, writes German Wave.

Earlier, Trump reported that the US administration, together with the military, is analyzing possible options for action against Iran amid the ongoing protests. "The military is looking at the situation and we're looking at some very strong options," he told reporters, emphasizing that he was in contact with Iranian opposition representatives.
