Negotiations with the U.S. have been terminated.
Cuba says there have been no talks with the United States following public statements and threats by US President Donald Trump.
This is according to a statement by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, released on the X social network.
The Cuban leader said contacts between Havana and Washington are limited exclusively to technical issues related to migration and are not political in nature.
"There are no negotiations with the US government, except for technical contacts in the field of migration," Miguel Diaz-Canel said.
He also emphasized that Cuba is an independent state and does not accept ultimatums or pressure from other countries. According to the president, decisions in the sphere of domestic and foreign policy are made exclusively by the Cuban authorities.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez noted that the country has the full right to independently determine its foreign economic relations, in particular - in the energy sector.
Díaz-Canel also criticized the new migration policy of the Trump administration. This refers to the US decision to halt a number of migration programs for crisis countries, among which was Cuba. According to the Cuban president, such steps have negative humanitarian consequences.
U.S. President Donald Trump earlier made threats against Cuba, emphasizing that "oil and money" are no longer supplied to the island, and also called for "an agreement before it's too late."
