In Lithuania, Six People Were Detained In Connection With The Smuggling Of Cigarettes From Belarus By Means Of Weather Probes

Lithuania detained a group of six people, who smuggled Belarusian cigarettes into the country from Belarus with the help of weather probes. This is reported by the State Border Guard Service of Lithuania.

The group included six people. The suspects ranged in age from 25 to 46 years old and were residents of Vilnius city, as well as Vilnius and Šalčininka districts. During searches at the places of residence and in the cars of the suspects were found and seized 7.5 thousand packs of cigarettes made in Belarus, cash, SIM-cards of Lithuanian and Belarusian mobile operators, cell phones. After the inspection, two vehicles were also seized.

All the detainees were placed in a temporary detention center. In the near future, the issue of preventive measures will be decided.

"This year, a total of seven balloons were intercepted, which were used to try to smuggle illegal tobacco products from Belarus. Border Guard warehouses received 24 thousand packs of cigarettes, which, presumably, were delivered to Lithuania by air," added the State Border Guard Service.
