Ships will be intercepted anywhere.
The Pentagon made it clear that if the ship under sanctions, it will be stopped by the Navy. On January 14, it became known that the US was preparing to seize all of Venezuela's oil tankers. In the courts of Washington and other cities have already registered petitions for the confiscation of ships and oil.
Five tankers in half a month: that's exactly how many seized the U.S. Marines, but the White House plans, much broader - to manage the entire Venezuelan oil industry as long as necessary.
This is reported Reuters with reference to its own sources. The peculiarity of the innovations is that now the US military has several dozen permits to seize oil tankers under sanctions, and we are talking not only about Venezuela, but also the "shadow fleet" of Russia and Iran.
These are mainly ships hiding under the flags of other countries to transport Venezuelan oil to China. They may now suffer the fate of the Russian tanker Olina, seized by the United States in the Caribbean on Jan. 9.
The seizures of oil tankers have been temporarily halted in part because Venezuelan oil exports are already under U.S. control, but "active operations at sea" are promised to resume soon.
"The United States will intercept all 'shadow fleet' vessels carrying Venezuelan oil anytime, anywhere," Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell promised.
