What preceded
Today it became known that Venezuela's opposition leader and 2025 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Maria Machado handed U.S. President Donald Trump a Nobel Prize medal.
She wanted to recognize his understanding of the situation in Venezuela.
Reaction of the Nobel Committee
The Committee noted that the rules of the prize are unwavering and do not provide for a change of ownership of the title:
"The Nobel Prize cannot be revoked, divided or transferred to others. Once announced, the decision becomes effective forever," the statement said.

The Nobel Foundation explained that neither Alfred Nobel's will nor the organization's statutes provide for the possibility of revoking or transferring the prize.
The decisions of the Oslo and Stockholm committees are final, and in the history of the award, no committee has ever considered changing the laureate.
