More Than Half Of Americans Thought The First Year Of Trump's Second Term Was A Failure

The results of a poll for CNN have been released.

A majority of Americans consider the first year of Donald Trump's second presidential term a failure, according to an SSRS poll for CNN. According to the survey, 58% of respondents called the period a failure.

According to the poll, only 36% of Americans believe Trump is guided by the "right" priorities - compared to 45% at the beginning of his term. Meanwhile, 58% of those surveyed said the president's actions go beyond his authority. A significant share of the public is not sure that the president acts in the interests of citizens, and only about a third hold the opposite opinion.

The key problem for Americans remains the economy. It is named as the main topic almost twice as often as any other. According to 55% of respondents, Donald Trump's policies have worsened the economic situation in the country, and 64% believe he has not done enough to lower prices. Even among Republicans and supporters of the Make America Great Again movement, a significant share believe the president should have done more.

The poll was conducted Jan. 9-12 among 1,209 adult Americans online and by telephone. The margin of error is 3.1 percentage points.

Trump's job approval level in the Reuters/Ipsos poll is 39 percent. While he maintains strong support from his own base (nearly nine in 10 Republicans approve of his job performance), he has virtually no support among Democrats and independent voters. Only 29% of independents and about 30% of Hispanics and citizens under 35 view his presidency favorably.
