That's almost a third less than in 2024-ish.
In 2025, 2993 Belarusians asked for international protection in Poland. This is almost a third less than in 2024, according to the statistics of the migration portal of the country, writes Most.
Protection (in the form of refugee status or subsidiary protection) was granted to 1,737 citizens of Belarus. This is also a third less than a year earlier.
Belarusians are still not often refused. Over the past year, only 112 people received negative decisions. That is, the refusals were issued in less than 6% of the considered cases of Belarusians. Another 180 cases were suspended, which is 9% of all cases.
In total, in 2025, Poland will provide international protection to 3.7 thousand foreigners. Belarusians are the largest group of recipients. In second place are Ukrainians (1.5 thousand)
But from a certain moment the citizens of Ukraine were practically stopped being granted protection. 2.8 thousand Ukrainians received refusals. The Office for Foreigners issued several times explanations that the war in Ukraine and fear of conscription are not grounds for recognizing international protection. And the main issues of war refugees are solved by the mechanism of temporary protection.
