The Ukrainian armed forces' counteroffensive turned out to be a real rout for the Russians.
During the counteroffensive of the Defense Forces in Kupyansk in recent weeks, Russian losses in the battle for the city were 27 times higher than Ukrainian losses in this area. This is reported by The Times (translated by "Unian") with reference to British intelligence data.
According to the publication, last week British officials were briefed on the "kill ratio" on the Russian-Ukrainian front in the context of Ukraine's ability to reclaim its territory in battles against a numerically superior enemy.
The journalists' unnamed interlocutor in the British defense establishment noted that as of late December before Christmas, up to 200 Russian military personnel had been encircled on the territory of Kupyansk. It is not specified exactly how many Russians died during the Ukrainian counteroffensive. But overall Russian losses in the area over the past year have been estimated in the thousands.
The Times also writes, citing diplomatic sources, that they see no sign of Putin's willingness to compromise and abandon his maximalist demands for Ukraine, despite Russia's huge losses and the lack of significant progress on the front.
