Russian Federation Has Left Five Regions Of Ukraine Without Electricity

Russia's frosty energy terror continues.

Russia has once again attacked the Ukrainian energy sector. Russian strikes have left five regions of Ukraine partially without light.

First Deputy Energy Minister of Ukraine Artyom Nekrasov reported at a briefing that as of the morning of January 19, parts of Sumy, Odessa, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions remain without light.

- Emergency recovery work continues wherever the security situation allows," the official said.

He also noted that the situation with light remains difficult in Kiev and the region, and did not predict the time of return to the schedules of hourly blackouts in the capital and throughout the Kiev region. In addition, Nekrasov reminded that additional load on the energy system is created by frost, as electricity consumption increases with decreasing air temperature.

- 60 brigades are working to restore power supply in the capital, of which 12 are involved from other regions. Distribution system operators continue to apply network restrictions. The previously announced schedules of hourly shutdowns are temporarily not in effect, - emphasized the representative of the Ministry of Energy.

- According to him, in all other regions there are schedules of hourly shutdowns for all categories of consumers and schedules of capacity limitation for industry.

- In several regions emergency shutdowns are forced due to overloading of equipment in conditions of very high level of consumption during frosts. The return to hourly cut-off schedules will take place after the situation stabilizes, - Nekrasov noted.
