Russian propaganda has been building an image of technological superiority for years.
Special Operations Center "Alpha" of the Security Service of Ukraine in 2025 destroyed the myth about the invincibility of Russian air defense. This is written by Ukrainian political scientist, ex-MP Alexander Chernenko.
The expert emphasizes that the focus of "Alpha" operations were key elements of Russian air defense, providing protection of strategic facilities.
"Long-range strikes by Ukrainian special forces on the echeloned air defense system of the Russian Federation led to the destruction and disabling of air defense equipment with an estimated value of about $4 billion. This is a purposeful "minus" of the backbone of the air defense. And it was the SBU that undermined the myth of "impenetrable" air defense: Russian propaganda has been building an image of technological superiority for years. "Alpha" SBU in 2025 finally destroyed it," - believes the political scientist.
Ex-Nardepean emphasizes that we are talking about a systemic result, not a one-time success. "Such strikes made it possible to break through stable corridors in the enemy's defense and provide safe routes for Ukrainian long-range drones. This, in turn, makes it possible to expand the depth of defeats - on military bases, on refineries, on warehouses, airfields and logistics hubs behind enemy lines. Thus, each destroyed air defense complex worked not only to the disadvantage of Russian defense, but also to the advantage of Ukrainian offensive capabilities. The task of our strikes against the Russian Federation is to economically deplete the enemy. And the role of the SBU in this process is without exaggeration key," Chernenko writes.
- It should be noted that in this result there is an important contribution of the ex-head of "Alpha" Evgeny Khmara. Today he is temporarily acting head of the SBU. And, obviously, will maintain the pace of special operations, the foundation of which was laid by Vasyliy Malyuk. And already the first weeks of the new year demonstrate that the number of accurate long-range strikes from the SBU against the enemy will only increase," the political analyst summarizes.
