The platform will allow you to buy fractional shares and fund your accounts using steblecoins.
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has announced the development of a platform for trading tokenized securities using blockchain for settlement. According to the press release, the project involves round-the-clock trading of stocks and ETFs and will be launched after receiving the necessary regulatory approvals.
The platform will allow to buy fractional shares, conduct settlements almost instantly and fund accounts using stablecoins. The NYSE notes that the tokenized shares will be fully equivalent to ordinary securities and will retain the right to dividends and participation in corporate governance.
The NYSE stresses that the project aims to combine the familiar principles of the stock market with the advantages of blockchain, primarily faster settlement and constant access to trading.
The project is part of the digitalization strategy within Intercontinental Exchange, the owner of the NYSE. The company is also preparing clearing systems for 24/7 operations and is working with BNY and Citi banks to introduce tokenized deposits for settlement outside bank hours.
