Nelly Vodonosova, mother of TV host and singer Katerina Vodonosova, died yesterday, January 1, 2025. Vodonosova announced this in Facebook.
"34 gady May mama chakala sushrechy z maim tatam. I'm afraid I've seen them once before. And I'm a sirate now. Mom died," wrote Katerina.
We recall that the mother of TV host and singer Katerina Vodonosova left Belarus more than a year ago because of the KGB pressure and applied for international protection. After that, she lived with her daughter's family in Bialystok.
In late September 2025, the Polish Border Guard Service decided to deport the Belarusian woman as a result of bureaucratic delays. It turned out that they simply didn't know that the woman's case was still under consideration and that a trial was scheduled for October 28. As a result, the deportation was canceled.
The reason why the woman was going to be deported from the country was the fact that she entered Poland on a Lithuanian visa. It's all about the Dublin Regulation, a document that determines which country is responsible for granting refugee, asylum or international protection.
On December 23, 2025, Nelly Vodonosova suffered a brain hemorrhage. The woman was in Poland awaiting international protection. But, according to her daughter, due to bureaucratic delays, she was not entered into the database in time, so the bill for the operation could run from tens to hundreds of thousands of zlotys. Kateryna announced a fundraiser for medical services through the BYSOL Foundation - at the time of publication of this text, more than 16 thousand euros had already been raised.
