British Navy Intercepts Russian Warships In The English Channel: Details Of The Operation

The two-day special operation was coordinated with NATO allies.

Britain's Royal Navy tracked Russian vessels that were on a course through the English Channel during a two-day operation coordinated with NATO allies.

The Reuters reports.

The British Royal Navy engaged two patrol ships and a Wildcat helicopter in the mission. They intercepted the Russian warship Boiky and a Baltic Fleet auxiliary vessel, the oil tanker General Skobelev.

The Russian group was heading north. Britain tracked the Russian Federation ships for two days before handing over monitoring to another NATO ally. The operation came to light just a day after London backed the French military's boarding of a Russian "shadow fleet" tanker.

The Russian Federation tanker was tracked for some time before the French navy seized the under-sanctioned vessel while it was passing through the Strait of Gibraltar. The operation was carried out as part of an attempt to clamp down on the Russian regime's "shadow fleet" vessels.
