Slovakia To Hand Over Protest Note To Russian Ambassador

Because of the attacks on Ukraine's energy industry.

Slovak Foreign Minister Jury Blanar has condemned Russia's recent attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure and said he will hand a note of protest to the Russian ambassador. The minister's statement was published on the Slovak Foreign Ministry's website.

Blanar said he contacted Ukrainian Ambassador Miroslav Kastranu to express his condolences over the situation.

The minister also added that Slovakia supplied Ukraine with twice as much emergency electricity in January as in the previous year.

The day before, the press service of the Chernihiv city council said that Chernihiv in northern Ukraine was almost completely left without light. It also said that in connection with the blackout, critical infrastructure facilities in the city began to be switched to operation from alternative power sources.
