GUR Medics Performed A Unique Operation On The High Seas

Rescued a wounded fighter under threat of enemy strikes.

Combat medics of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine conducted a unique operation. They saved the life of a wounded fighter under the threat of enemy strikes in the open sea.

The defender was in critical condition, he lost a lot of blood, had a traumatic amputation and serious hypothermia - but thanks to the actions of the medics survived. The details were revealed in GUR.

What is known about the unique operation

Ukrainian warriors never cease to amaze the world, constantly pushing the boundaries of the possible in the conditions of war.

So, the combat medics of GUR were able to save a severely wounded fellow soldier in the open sea.

"The medics of the GUR of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine conducted a unique rescue operation right on the water - in open sea conditions, under the threat of enemy fire and in the absence of full medical equipment. The wounded man was brought to the floating platform in a critical condition - with massive blood loss, traumatic amputation and serious hypothermia," - stated in the message.

Participants of the operation to rescue the wounded scout recall: the situation was complicated by the fact that the fighter received first aid late.

"The time of imposition of tourniquets was later than it could be. Because of this, blood loss increased and hypothermia was added. The condition was serious," said a medical team specialist with the call sign "Tochini".

There was no time for reflection and weighing different options for the medics: they had to act immediately, because with every minute the chances of saving the wounded man's life were rapidly melting.

"The patient was under control all the time - both the crew and the combat medics of the forward unit. They did a tremendous job before he was even brought to us. They put a tourniquet on the patient, stopped the bleeding. It was already not an easy task in those conditions," Tochini said.

Stabilizing their wounded colleague, the medics began the operation.

"Right away they started aggressively warming him up because the weather conditions were already quite adverse. The ambient temperature was about 10 degrees. And gradually, when his vital signs started to come back to normal, we started to do the surgical intervention," said Tocini.

The heat lasted about 45 minutes.

Tocini said operations in extreme conditions are part of everyday work for GUR medics.

"It could be a boat, a car, a helicopter or any room. We prepare to work in any environment. All team members are interchangeable and ready to act even where there is almost no chance," he emphasized.

After the operation was completed, the wounded man was transported to land.
