Trump: Right Now We're Making A Decision About The Future Of Venezuela

The U.S. wants freedom for the Venezuelan people.

U.S. President Donald Trump has revealed what steps his administration is considering in terms of governing Venezuela after dictator Nicolas Maduro was taken hostage, Fox News reports.

"Well, we're making that decision right now. We can't risk letting somebody else run the country and just continue what he left behind. So we're making that decision now. We're going to be very active in this. And we want freedom for the people," he said in a phone interview with Fox News today, Jan. 3.

Trump said Venezuelans are very happy with Maduro's detention "because they love the United States" and because the country under Maduro was a "dictatorship."

Trump said Maduro tried to negotiate.

"You know, he tried to negotiate at the end," Trump told Fox News. - "But I said: 'No, we can't do that.' What he was doing with drugs is bad."
