Now they can be written off directly from their accounts.
January 1, 2026, a law introducing a simplified procedure of enforcement proceedings came into force in Belarus. It allows to automatically write off debts on fines, including for traffic violations, recorded by cameras, from the bank accounts of citizens, writes "Mirror".
The law "On amending laws on enforcement proceedings" was published last July, but the changes came into force on January 1, 2026. According to the document, collection on fines imposed is now possible without initiating full-fledged enforcement proceedings. Money from the card of a fined person can be written off, if his situation meets two conditions: the amount of debt does not exceed 20 basic units (from January 1, it is 900 rubles), and there are no other enforcement proceedings related to monetary penalties against the debtor.
A debtor is given the opportunity to voluntarily repay the debt within two months. In the first month it is necessary to pay at least 30% of the debt, in the second month - to completely close the debt. If this is not done, a compulsory collection may be applied.
In case of delay, an enforcement fee in the amount of 10% of the debt, but not less than 0.5 basic units (22.5 rubles) is also charged.
In case of default, additional measures may be taken, including seizure of property or temporary restriction of the right to drive a vehicle.
It is noted that the bailiff has the right to recover funds not only from bank accounts, but also from deposits, deposits in non-banking financial organizations, as well as from electronic wallets.
