The Kremlin is blocking his exit.
Russian General Oleg Makarevich, exiled to Venezuela after the failure of the "Dnepr" group of troops on the Kherson direction and the loss of Kherson, cannot return to his homeland. Against the backdrop of events in Caracas, he has tried several times to leave the country, but the Kremlin is blocking his departure.
The Ukrainian political and military observer Alexandr Kovalenko reports.
According to him, back in November-December Makarevich, anticipating the imminent collapse of the Nicolas Maduro regime, submitted a request to return to Russia, but Moscow refused him. In the days of the American special operation to detain the Venezuelan dictator, the general tried to leave again, but was again refused.
Makarevich commands in Venezuela a group of Russian mercenaries numbering about 120 people. They are training the Venezuelan military to operate drones and instructing local special forces. Most of the mercenaries are stationed in Caracas.
In addition, under Makarevich's leadership, the group conducts intelligence activities for the Venezuelan authorities, using advanced technical and agent capabilities.
