Rubio: U.S. Seeks New Elections In Venezuela
Marco Rubio

The Vice President of the country is not a legitimate leader.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the Donald Trump administration does not recognize Vice President Delcy Rodriguez as the country's legitimate leader, ABC News reported.

"We do not believe that this regime is legitimate through elections," Rubio said.

He said the legitimacy of Venezuela's system of government "will come through a transition period and real elections, which they haven't had," and the U.S. presidential administration is keeping "all the options we had before this raid" on the table.

"If you're a sub-sanctioned boat and you're going to Venezuela, you're going to be arrested either on the way there or on the way out by a court order that we're going to get from judges in the United States," he said.
