Especially on the issue of enforcement of restrictive measures.
Cyprus, which holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2026, intends to continue analyzing the economic and financial consequences of the Russian aggression against Ukraine. Special attention will be paid to possible scenarios of a protracted conflict, as well as to ensuring proper implementation of the EU sanctions against Russia and Belarus.
This is stated in the official 52-page program of the Cypriot presidency. At the same time, there are no other references to Belarus in the document.
The program stresses that Russia's ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine, accompanied by an illegal invasion and prolonged occupation, requires a clear and unequivocal commitment to international law.
It is noted that its fundamental principles cannot be questioned - neither in this conflict, nor in any other situations in Europe or beyond. It is also emphasized that double standards cannot guide the European Union.
