Hungary's prime minister said his party is the only one capable of keeping the peace.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has urged citizens to support his Fidesz party in the 2026 parliamentary elections, saying it is necessary to ensure that the country "does not get dragged into war."
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the Hungarian prime minister's statement on his Facebook page.html">"RBC-Ukraine" citing the Hungarian prime minister's statement on his Facebook page.
Orban, who displays pro-Russian views, believes that "the liberal world order is disintegrating," and the election of Donald Trump as US president, he said, was a "death blow" for him, apparently alluding to events in Venezuela.
The prime minister said the new world order is just taking shape, so the coming years will be "more unstable, unpredictable and dangerous."
"In this situation, the Hungarian people must choose a path this April," he wrote.
In this context, Orbán criticized the opposition Tisza party, saying it would allegedly choose the "Brussels deadlock" and agree to EU demands, particularly on the war, Ukraine funding, migration and gender policy.
But, Orbán said, his Fidesz party offers "the path of peace and security."
"We do not want to send Hungarian youth to the front and we do not want to destroy the country and the Hungarian economy. We have a plan and an intention to make Hungary the winner of the historical epoch before us. For this we must first of all stay out of the war. For this we ask the Hungarian people to empower us in 2026," said the politician.
