Otherwise, she will repeat Maduro's fate.
The administration of US President Donald Trump is demanding that Venezuela's interim president Delcy Rodriguez take a series of steps that her predecessor Nicolas Maduro refused to take if she does not want to repeat his fate.
This is reported by Politico, citing a US official and a source who is aware of internal discussions in the Trump administration.
Washington told Rodriguez they expect to see at least three steps from her - toughening the fight against drug trafficking, expelling Iranian, Cuban and other agents of states or networks hostile to the United States, and stopping oil sales to foes of the United States.
Two sources told the publication that U.S. officials also expect Rodriguez to facilitate free elections in Venezuela and eventually resign.
The timing of these demands may be adjusted.
