The Pokrovskoye Direction Is No Longer The Hottest Part Of The Front

This follows from a new summary of the General Staff of the AFU.

Yesterday, January 5, 2025, the most fights with the Russian occupants were recorded in the Gulyaypol direction, in connection with which the Pokrovskoye direction ceased to be the hottest section of the front.

This follows from the new summary of the General Staff of the AFU, posted on the page of the Ukrainian defense ministry in Facebook.

According to the AFU General Staff, on January 5, soldiers of the occupying army of the Russian Federation stormed AFU positions 43 times in the Pokrovsky direction, and 46 times in the Gulyaipol direction. As we can see, the difference is small, but still we can say that Gulyaypol, at least for a while, became the hottest area on the front.

In the Pokrovsky direction on January 5, the fighting took place near the settlements of Krasny Liman, Sukhetske, Rodinskoye, Mirnograd, Pokrovsk, Kotlino, Udachnoye, Molodetske, Filia and others. On the Gulyaypol direction, the fighting took place in the areas of Uspenovka, Sladkoye, Gulyaypol, as well as towards Dobropolye (Polohovsky district), Varvarovka and Zelenoye.

The occupation army of the Russian Federation began its offensive on the Gulyaypol direction at the end of October 2025.

A representative of the Defense Forces of Southern Ukraine Vladislav Voloshyn said in an interview with Suspilnyy that we can expect the start of fighting for the town of Orekhov in the Zaporizhzhya region soon.

Orekhov is a town in the Polohovsky district of the Zaporizhzhya region. Before the war it had about 15 thousand inhabitants. The distance to Zaporozhye is about 60 kilometers. It is an important defensive center for the AFU.
