A Large Military Camp Is Being Built Near Gomel: What Is Known

The source of funding for the construction site has changed.

The construction of a large military camp near the village of Pribor in Homiel district is being delayed. This follows from the State Investment Program for 2026, signed by Alexander. State resources did not report anything about the updated plans for the construction of the town, but a scan of the document was studied by Flagpole and made conclusions.

In 2026, only Br64 million ($21.7 million) is allocated to continue the construction of the military town, which began in 2023. Much larger sums are envisioned for the following years: 200 million rubles in 2027 and 341.8 million in 2028. It follows that the most active construction is expected in the following years, but this does not mean that the construction will be completed within these three years.

The same applies to the military training ground: financing for its construction is also stretched over the next three years. And if in 2026 only 15 million rubles are allocated for the construction of the range, in 2027 and 2028 - 150 million and 245.7 million respectively. Today it is not known what the landfill is. Presumably, it is a site located near the military camp near the village of Pribor. Its transformation began in parallel with the creation of the military camp. In public procurement the site appears under the name "tactical field".

The new investment program also changed the source of funding. If earlier the creation of military infrastructure in Gomel region was financed from the republican budget, now it will be financed from the targeted budgetary fund of national development.

The State Investment Program for 2024-2026 previously envisaged the allocation of almost 400 million rubles for the construction of the military camp, but, as it seems, the plans have been adjusted.

In August 2025, the Kremlin media, citing the commander of the Special Operations Forces (SDF) of the Armed Forces of Belarus, Vadim Denisenko, reported that Belarus had begun forming a new brigade of the army's special operations forces, which would be based in the Gomel region bordering Ukraine.

Forming of the brigade, according to Denisenko, is already underway in one of Belarus' military units. Apparently, he was referring to the only known large-scale military construction site in Gomel region, located near the village of Pribor in Gomel district.
