But continues in the United States.
Venezuela's state oil company PDVSA's operations to load cargoes for its major customers in China remained suspended for a fifth consecutive day, while the country continues to load oil only for U.S.-based Chevron.
Reuters reports Reuters.
Chevron is the only major U.S. oil company operating in the country under a U.S. license that exempts it from sanctions imposed by Washington on Venezuela's oil industry Without additional exports, PDVSA may be forced to deepen the production cuts it has begun in recent days as storage tanks fill up.
On Monday, Chevron resumed Venezuelan oil exports to the United States after a four-day pause and called workers abroad back to their Venezuelan offices as flights to the country resumed.
The U.S. firm has become the only company to export Venezuelan oil uninterrupted in recent weeks.
At least a dozen sanctioned vessels, which were loaded in December and stuck in Venezuelan waters because of the embargo, set sail in early January.
These ships were carrying about 12 million barrels of oil and fuel. It is unclear where the ships were headed, although they were originally loaded for customers in China.
The vessels set sail in "dark mode," meaning the transponders that relay their location were turned off. The vessels appear to have broken the blockade of U.S. tankers.
The U.S. government has not commented on the vessels or said whether it had authorized their departure.
