The National Bank Of Belarus Introduced New Bans For Bankers

Bank managers will be blacklisted for rallies and "discrediting".

The National Bank will not certify bankers who participated in peaceful rallies or "discredited" Belarus. This follows from the regulator's resolution, published on the National Legal Internet Portal.

The National Bank amended the instruction on the assessment of compliance with qualification requirements. Now, bank managers who, as the authorities deem, participated in protests, rallies or pickets, or "called for" them, will not be able to obtain the regulator's certification. Without such authorization from the regulator, specialists cannot hold certain managerial positions.

Bankers will also be blacklisted for "participation in any kind of activity aimed at discrediting". This item includes "personal participation, mediation or cooperation by providing services, registration in extremist formations, distribution of information products included in the national list of extremist materials, as well as manufacturing, publishing, storage or transportation for the purpose of distribution of such information products".

The National Bank has already refused to certify top managers of banks after they were questioned by law enforcers.
