Canada may deploy its troops in Ukraine as part of a multinational force after the peace agreement is concluded, as well as train the Ukrainian military.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said this on Tuesday, January 6, according to CTV News.
He emphasized that this is only a potential option for now, and participation in a multinational force would have "a much greater effect than if we acted on our own."
Carney added that his country's initial contribution to guaranteeing Ukraine's security could be the training of the Ukrainian military, as Canadian soldiers are already training in Poland as part of Operation Unifier.
The Canadian prime minister also noted that the government's efforts to build military capabilities will help the country play a meaningful role in ensuring Ukraine's security after the war ends.
