The head of the FBK insulted the Ukrainian authorities.
A number of Lithuanian politicians have reacted to boorish statements by the head of the Russian Anti-Corruption Foundation Leonid Volkov. The politician insulted the head of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RVC) Denis Kapustin, who is fighting on the side of Ukraine, and Ukrainian officials - the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine (OP) Kyryl Budanov (at the time of Volkov's post, he was in charge of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry - Ed.) and OP adviser Mikhail Podolyak.
Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginenė called Volkov's words unacceptable. The Lithuanian prime minister expressed hope that the State Security Department would conduct a detailed investigation.
After that, the Migration Department should decide whether to cancel Volkov's residence permit or not. The politician hopes that in the future Lithuania will be able to avoid both such statements and people who allow them.
"In my personal opinion, such statements are unacceptable and such a person should not stay in Lithuania," Ruginenė said.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kiastutis Budrys said foreigners who oppose Ukraine's right to self-defense, territorial integrity and sovereignty may not be allowed to enter Lithuania or may have their residence permits revoked in the country.
"There is an expectation that Lithuanian citizens, as well as foreign nationals staying in Lithuania with a residence permit or granted asylum, will show proper respect and agreement with the fundamental provisions of Lithuania's national security," the head of Lithuanian diplomacy was quoted as saying by LRT.
Deputy chairman of the Lithuanian Seimas Committee on National Security and Defense Laurynas Kasciunas said the Western world should create conditions for the activities of Russian opposition representatives opposing Putin's regime, but it is important to assess their position on Russian imperialism and the war in Ukraine.
"It is important for all of us to realize: being against Putin is one thing, but it is also possible to continue to support Russian imperialism. In such a case, we should ask ourselves whether these people acting in Lithuania have the right to continue their activities or not," the politician emphasized.
Kasciunas said Leonid Volkov's statements on social media are essentially no different from Kremlin propaganda.
The politician said there are many doubts about Volkov's future in Lithuania.
"I think there are many doubts whether he can continue his activities in Lithuania if he continues to spread such ideas. We have a clear strategy, national interests, security issues and allies. And such attacks on allies do not correspond to the asylum he has received in our country," Kasciūnas said.
We recall that on January 6, the Lithuanian Migration Department requested the State Security Department for additional advice on a possible threat to national security in connection with the words of Leonid Volkov, head of the Russian Anti-Corruption Foundation.
On January 5, former FBC employee Anna Tiron, who is now a political representative of the RDK, published a screenshot of a message received from Leonid Volkov. It was sent after information appeared in the media about the death of the head of the RDK Denis Kapustin - it later became known that it was staged to prevent an assassination attempt.
In it, Volkov calls Kapustin's "death" "denazification," the RDK - a "clown unit," and Budanov and Podolyak - "thieves who will go to jail." The head of the FBK himself recognized the authenticity of the correspondence.
