Zelensky Admitted The End Of The War With Russia In The First Half Of 2026

Peace talks with members of the "coalition of the willing" have reached a new milestone.

Russia's war against Ukraine may come to an end during Cyprus' EU presidency, which will last until June 30.

As RBC-Ukraine reports, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said this during a speech at the opening ceremony of Cyprus' presidency of the Council of the EU.

He said that peace talks with European partners, the US and all members of the "coalition of the willing" have reached a new milestone.

"We understand that this war can end while you are still president," the president said.

Zelensky said that Ukraine "expects a lot of things" from the Cypriot presidency. In particular, it is about progress on Ukraine's path to the EU.

"Yes, there are countries that are small in size, but have received a voice in many European institutions we see this as a symbolism of Europe," he said.

The president added that Ukraine hopes that all clusters of negotiations will be open for it and Moldova.

"During your presidency, we hope to see the beginning of the implementation of the aid package for Ukraine, which will help strengthen our sustainability and the sustainability of the whole Europe," Zelensky pointed out.

It is worth noting that Cyprus assumed the presidency of the Council of the European Union on January 1. It will last until June 30.
