Russian MP Zhuravlev: We Should Attack The US Navy With Torpedoes For Seizing The Mariner Tanker

The US should be given a "flick on the nose" for the seizure of the Russian oil tanker "Mariner". This was stated by the first deputy head of the Defense Committee Alexei Zhuravlev to the "Podemosem" edition.

The Russian deputy called the seizure of a civilian vessel piracy, as well as an attempt on Russian territory, since the tanker was flying the flag of the Russian Federation.

The parliamentarian noted that such cases require a tough and prompt response. At the same time, Russia's military doctrine presupposes the use of nuclear weapons, the deputy head of the committee emphasized.

"Attack with torpedoes, sink a couple of American Coast Guard boats <....> I think the US, which is in a kind of euphoria of impunity after the special operation in Venezuela, can be stopped now only by such a flick on the nose," Zhuravlev said.

On the evening of January 7, the M/V Bella 1 ("Mariner") vessel was detained by US forces. The tanker was tracked by the USCGC Munro coastal cutter. The vessel was about 200-300 kilometers south of the Icelandic coast until it was seized. It was heading towards Murmansk.
