Reuters: U.S. Considering Payments Of Up To $100K To Greenland Residents

As part of an attempt to convince them to "secede from Denmark".

U.S. officials have discussed sending lump sum payments to Greenlanders as part of an effort to persuade them to "secede from Denmark and possibly join the United States." This was reported by Reuters, citing sources.

According to two of them, they are talking about amounts ranging from $10,000 to $100,000 per person. The population of the island is about 57,000 people.

The Times previously wrote that the Trump administration can achieve control over Greenland in four ways: to influence by force (military bargaining), to buy the island, to offer a treaty of free association, or to allow a combination - for example, preserving the status of Greenland as a territory of Denmark with a simultaneous increase in the U.S. presence, both military and economic.
