Trucks with medicine, food and generators have arrived in Kyiv and Fastiv.
Pope Leo XIV has expressed solidarity with Ukraine amid the freezing winter and the consequences of war by organizing the transfer of humanitarian aid. It is about generators, medicines and food.
This is reported by Vatican News.
The pontiff's initiative sent three trucks with 80 power generators to Ukraine, which have already arrived on the spot. It is believed that the aid is to support the population amid severe cold weather and damaged energy infrastructure.
The generators are intended for heating points and shelters where people are forced to stay due to power outages. According to the Vatican, Ukraine during this period recorded night frosts of up to -15 degrees Celsius, while during the day the temperature dropped to -10...-12 degrees Celsius. Thanks to generators in such places will also be able to organize the preparation of hot food.
Thousands of medicines were delivered to Ukraine along with generators, including antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, food supplements and melatonin, which helps people who are under constant stress and anxiety to improve their sleep.
The humanitarian cargo departed from the Basilica of St. Sophia in Rome, which is the spiritual center of Ukrainians in Italy, and was delivered, among other places, to Kiev and Fastiv, areas that have suffered significant destruction from the recent attacks.
An additional truckload of medicine and food is being prepared. Upon arrival, the aid will be distributed through a network of parishes in different dioceses of Ukraine.
