Ignat: For The First Time In The War, 9 Kh-22 Missiles Were Destroyed Simultaneously Over Kiev

This is an unprecedented case.

During the recent attack on Kiev, Ukrainian air defense shot down 9 Russian Kh-22 missiles. Prior to that, during the entire period of full-scale war, the air defense managed to intercept only three such missiles out of more than 400 launched.

About this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine told the head of the communications department of the AFU Air Force Command, Colonel Yuri Ignat.

According to him, during the attack on the capital, Russian forces used 12 Kh-22 missiles at once. Each of them has a warhead weighing about one ton, which makes such strikes especially dangerous.

Ignat noted that then nine such missiles were shot down.

"This is an unprecedented case, which really deserves attention and gratitude to our soldiers who intercepted these missiles. And, by the way, only three out of more than 400 such missiles launched during the entire period before this case were intercepted," he said.

In addition, according to the Air Force spokesman, the enemy has also recorded the use of Kh-32 missiles. Like the X-22, they enter the target on a ballistic trajectory, which significantly complicates their interception.

The enemy has previously used such missiles more often to strike the southern regions of Ukraine, in particular on oil platforms in the Black Sea, Snake Island and coastal port infrastructure.
