Through February 28, 2027.
Thursday, February 26, the Council of the European Union decided to extend the current sanctions against Belarus for another year.
This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.
Sanctions against Belarus, imposed because of internal repression, support for Russia in the war against Ukraine and hybrid attacks against the EU countries, thus remain in force until February 28, 2027 with the possibility of extension.
Now 312 citizens of Belarus and 57 organizations are under sanctions. Their assets in the European Union are frozen, EU citizens and companies are banned from carrying out financial transactions with them, and those under sanctions are banned from entering the bloc.
The restrictions against Minsk are aimed at the financial, trade, energy, transportation and other sectors of the economy, and focus on reducing the regime's revenues and preventing the circumvention of sanctions.
