The U.S., Europe and Canada have expressed their willingness to provide assurances.
As soon as a peace agreement is reached for Ukraine, "there will be armed forces, airplanes in the air and support at sea immediately." As unian.net correspondent reports, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said this during his speech in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
He noted that the Alliance stands by Ukraine and that our country needs strong support.
"The United States, Europe and Canada have expressed their willingness to provide certain security guarantees and assurances. "A 'coalition of the willing' is making progress in projecting these guarantees agreed to last month in Paris. President Zelenski has also spoken about this," Rutte said.
He said that "as soon as a peace agreement is reached, there will immediately be armed forces, planes in the air and support at sea." He added that "other NATO members will help in other ways."
The secretary-general emphasized that reaching an agreement to end the war would require "difficult choices."
"Ukraine must understand that every sacrifice you have made, every life you have lost, every difficult moment you have endured will not be repeated anytime soon. Peace must be long-term. And the documents that will be signed must be honored by the major countries. You would not want a second Budapest Memorandum or another Minsk," he said.
