Assistance from international allies to strengthen the country's defense capabilities was discussed.
Ukrainian Ambassador to the UK Valeriy Zaluzhny met with British Defense Minister Yvette Cooper and discussed military aid to Kiev from London and a number of other important issues. The former AFU Commander-in-Chief wrote about it in Facebook.
According to Zaluzhny's information, during the meeting with Yvette Cooper, they talked about the security situation, the prospects for a just peace between Kiev and Moscow, and further assistance from international allies to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities.
Zaluzhny emphasized that the conversation with Cooper took place against the background of continued air strikes by the occupying army of the Russian Federation on Ukrainian energy facilities. In this regard, the ambassador told the British foreign minister what challenges Ukraine is now facing and what it needs.
It should be noted that the UK is providing Ukraine with huge financial, military, political and humanitarian assistance in its war against the Russian occupiers.
In 2025, London and Kiev signed a strategic partnership agreement for 100 years.
In January 2026, the British and Ukrainian defense ministers signed a roadmap for the strategic partnership. The British government has even already allocated 200 million pounds sterling to prepare for the deployment of British soldiers in Ukraine as part of a peacekeeping mission, if an agreement is reached.
According to media reports, London and Paris are ready to deploy up to 30,000 peacekeepers on Ukrainian territory to monitor the ceasefire. In March 2025, Britain and France led the so-called "Coalition of the Resolute", which includes countries that are ready to send their peacekeepers to Ukraine after it ends the war with Russia.
Now there are more than 20 countries in this organization, however, not all of them agree to participate in a peacekeeping mission on Ukrainian territory.
