US State Department Approves Sale Of Spare Parts For Military Equipment To Ukraine

Congress has 30 days to consider the deal.

The U.S. State Department has approved up to $185 million in potential logistical support to Ukraine.

The Pentagon's Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), which oversees overseas military sales under intergovernmental contracts, reported.

According to the agency, Kiev has previously requested a variety of support, including parts for vehicles and weapons systems. Specific items are not disclosed in the notice, but the total value is estimated at $185 million.

"This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a partner nation that is a force for political stability and economic progress in Europe," the notice said.

The administration has already notified Congress of the decision: lawmakers have 30 days to review and potentially block the deal.
