Russian Federation Is Confused About The Condition Of Gen. Alexeyev
Vladimir Alexeev

He's awake or in a coma?

Contradictory reports have emerged in Russia about the condition of deputy GRU chief Vladimir Alekseev after the assassination attempt. State-run and Kremlin-affiliated media first reported one thing, and later edited their own news, writes OBOZ.UA.

At the end of the day, there are more questions than answers, from the general's condition to the story of the "killer," who was allegedly detained or not.

The Kremlin-owned REN TV channel quoted sources as saying that Vladimir Alekseev, deputy chief of the GRU, who was shot the day before, had allegedly regained consciousness. The SHOT publication points out that Alexeyev is in intensive care in a coma, his condition is stable and serious.

The same "REN TV" wrote that the suspect in the assassination attempt has been detained. At the same time, the channel edited its message and removed the information that the "killer" was allegedly detained in Dubai.

The original version said that international special services were involved in the operation, and the suspect was being "taken from Dubai," where he had allegedly fled.

The ASTRA edition retained the original version of the publication. Meanwhile, Kommersant, citing a source close to the investigation, reported that the suspect has already been brought in for questioning, and the court is due to choose a preventive measure for him on February 8.
