Trump Has Changed The Rules For U.S. Gun Sales

It has become known who will be armed first.

US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order that will change Washington's approach to arms sales to other countries. Priority will now be determined according to different rules.

Reuters reports Reuters.

From now on, priority in the purchase of American weapons will be given in favor of countries that have high defense spending and strategic importance in their regions.

Reuters notes that Trump's executive order, which establishes the "Arms Transfer Priority Strategy for American Interests," marks a significant shift in U.S. arms sales policy.

"It directs federal agencies to prioritize foreign military sales to partners that have invested heavily in their own self-defense capabilities and hold important positions or are in key geographic regions," the agency writes.

The move is intended to accelerate U.S. arms sales to allies, as well as use foreign procurement to expand its own production capacity.

"Future arms sales will prioritize U.S. interests by using foreign procurement and capital to build U.S. production and capabilities," the White House said in the release.

The executive order does not mention any countries, but NATO leaders are known to have supported the new ra target in 2025 This could only be changed after overcoming significant hurdles and giving priority to a specific country.

The White House added that the previous approach led to delays in production and delivery because orders did not match U.S. production capabilities.
